Free Running

This project started out as a simple animation test to better my action skills. I set myself a 6week deadline to have it finished. Some how in the middle of the second or third week this simple animation test has exploded into the short that it is. I ended up putting in many more cuts than originally planed, including lighting, texturing, rendering and sound effects. Some how with all of the extras that I placed into this test I finished two weeks later than my original deadline. In total it took me 8 weeks, 5 for the animation, one for the lighting and texturing, one for the rendering, and one for the sound effects. Im happy with the way it turned out especially with how unplanned it was. Critiques are always welcome, ill be sure to take them all into consideration for the next project I work on.

Spreading my talents

Im wanting to spread my talents into different areas of CG than just animating. I origonally got into CG for modeling charcters and creatures, I still have a passion for creating characters so i decided to dive into it....My first model since school a horse. I created it because I wanted to animate a good, apealing horse. And I tried to model it so that I could do a lipsinc with it if I chose to. One of my friends is rigging it, so soon I will find out if I accomplished what I set out to do. I feel that more work could have gone into the maine and tail. It took me 2 weeks to compleet the body and 4weeks to compleet the head.....remember first model since school....

FLY

This is an update of the lipsinc Ive been working on, I pause on the animation for a bit to get the lighting textureing and props in. Above is the final render of what it will look like, and below is the playblast of my current animation.

TapDance

Just a side project I wanted to do. Im planning on a longer version, maybe with two people, this one was just a test to see if I could accomplish it and what rig I wanted to use.

I decided to chalange myself a little more and attempt an old time tap dancing sequence. I wanted to explore the graph editor more and see what I could make it do for me. I reaserched Fred Astair, Gene Kelly, and many more great actors and dancers for a week before I decided to go ahead and run with it.

This is just a test animation to see if I can accomplish the task Im setting up for myself and to test different rigs to see witch one I wouold prefer to use. I plan on doing a longer animation to music soon.

There is no sound to this clip yet.

Ive been doing this animation for some cross training, Its still a work in progress, I just put it into clamped animation, so some of the timing will be floaty. Ill have this one finished very soon.

Robot

This is a project I was doing for a class I teach, I needed to get familiar with the rig so I completed the animation project and requirements the students would have to do. We soon found that we needed to cut some parts out for the students to accomplish it.

Mauler

I did this animation for a friend at work, He wanted this creature to be frightened or startled by the person behind the camera, then to change tactics and charge the camera with aggression. He composited the creature into the alleyway scene.

This was my best work at the time. I see places that could be corrected, I think every animator once he/she walks away form their work for a while can always see improvements that could be made. That's the downside to animation, Its never finished-the due date just comes too soon.

Feb 09 competion_Rockstar

I stumbled upon a website for animators of all kinds and experience http://www.11secondclub.com/

Its a forum for every animator, (2D, 3D, no experience to 12 years of experience) Every month there is a contest based off of a newly posted sound clip. The prize is bragging rights, and a professional critique from an animator in the industry (from Pixar, or ILM, or Wetta). All animations entered are voted on by the members of the club.

I had read the forums and watched the contest for a few months before. I attempted the May 08 competition but never finished my animation to submit it. I finally felt I had some spare time and animated the Feb 09 sound clip, witch happened to be a Jack Black sound clip. Now for those that don't know me, I'm not a big fan of Jack Black, I don't watch his films. Despite that i decided to animate anyway, and I still had a lot of fun with it.

I cant express how much I learned from animating this lipsinc, It was the first lipsinc I did since my Acting for Animators class in 2004.

Walk Sit-WIP

Here is a WIP (work in progress).

This is a series of animation for my new website. One of my friends is going to help me update my website. There will be silhouettes of animated characters walking through the screen at any given point in time. I'm excited, the concept looks awesome, Its just slow going, we are all working very hard and are consumed by our job. (this is not a complaint--I love my job).

Its still in stepped animation and some of my breakdowns are missing and out of place. I'm still trying to clean it up.

Sneak Cycle

Ive been thinking a lot about getting into game animation, from what I hear it seems to be a lot of fun, with a variety of animations to do. So here I was trying my hand at animating a sneak cycle. The Idea was that he is sneaking past a wall, or away from something that was scary to him. I tried to make a erie gloom with a orange light in the direction he was moving. I don't think I hit the lighting, especially because it turned extremely dark when I uploaded it. The quick time isn't nearly that dark, but I like the animation.

Tree Swing

Here is a project that my friend and I were working on, I was to do the animation, he was going to do the cloth, hair and grass sims. I wanted to do some animations for him so that he could make simulations for his new up and coming demo reel. Unfortunately during one of Florida's famous lightning storms, he lost his simulations. Were back on it and making it better than it was,

Will post updates.

Push Box

Here I was Just trying to animate the basics of weight, a guy pushing a heavy box.

I was having a little fun with the anticipation as well, turning him into a football linebacker before he shoves off.

2008 Demo Reel

This is my First Animation Demo Reel, I made this reel during my Mentor ship at Full Sail University. I learned a lot during the that time (about animation and myself), and had tons of fun doing it. This was the turning point in my life, I realized I could have fun and love my job, It was the first time in my life I woke up in the morning and couldn't wait till I went to work.
